Hypnomammas
Jenn King, Clinical Hypnotherapist & Birth Professional
I became a clinical hypnotherapist specifically so that I could
work with women from conception through postpartum. I have been
passionate about everything birth and babies for more than a decade
now and when I learned about the applications for hypnosis in this
field, it was an easy path for me to follow. My experience as a
childbirth educator & birth doula as well as from working at a
Midwifery clinic in Vancouver and serving on the Board of Directors
for the Doula Services Association of BC has provided me with a
valuable education and gives me a very unique skill set and ability
to truly understand the needs of childbearing women.
I offer a full suite of hypnosis services dedicated to meeting the
needs of these women - HypnoMammas. I also offer a variety of
general hypnosis sessions promoting overall health &
wellness.
Prenatal classes
I am very excited to be joining the local birth community and to
be teaching prenatal classes in the Sea to Sky corridor!
I am currently offering Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis classes in
Squamish. The next class series begins on Tuesday, September 6th
& will be offered at Sky High Lifestyles, Naturopathic,
Chiropractic & TCM clinic in downtown Squamish.
Coming, Fall 2011: a one day intensive prenatal class
(prenatal-in-a-day) and a breastfeeding basics workshop.
Hypno...babies?
Hypnobabies is a very successful 6 week complete childbirth
education course using Gerald Kein's Painless Childbirth techniques
instead of simple relaxation, breathing or guided imagery;
Hypnobabies uses the same hypnosis techniques people employ when
preparing for surgery.

Hypnobabies also provides expecting couples with all the valuable
information they need to make informed decisions for their unique
birthing; this IS your prenatal class and is recognized as such by

Did you know...
Hypnosis was recognized as a complimentary healing modality by the
British Medical Association in 1955, by the American Medical
Association in 1958 (there are "definite and proper uses of
hypnosis in medical and dental practice"), and by the American
Psychiatric Association in 1961.
For many people, the first thing that comes to mind when they
think hypnosis is an image of the stage hypnosis shows they've seen
where people seem to be unable to control themselves, act goofy and
provide entertainment for the audience.
In reality it is a state of focused concentration where the body
and mind relax together. Hypnosis is very simply: a natural state
of mind in which the body and mind are extremely relaxed and yet
the mind is also highly aware and focused. In fact, we are all in
states of hypnosis many times a day naturally; so hypnosis is a
very normal state of being that along with it's ability to provide
emotional and physical healing, has been widely and successfully
used within the medical community for pain relief and
hypno-anesthesia.
