WHAT'S HAPPENING IN FEBRUARY...

Whoa, nothing dull about this February! The month is jam packed with family fun from the Pemberton Winterfest to Whistler Celebration 2010. Throw in a little Valentine's chocolate and we'll all be bouncing off the walls.

Speaking of bouncing off the walls - don't forget to enter our contest this month so the kids can go blow off some steam at the Core Kids' Adventure Zone!

Helping Children Get Active with the Grade 5 SnowPass
The Canadian Ski Council and its partner resorts across Canada are taking a stand against childhood obesity. The SnowPass program offers Grade 5 or ten-year-old children up to three free days of skiing or snowboarding at each participating ski area in their region. More info

Pemberton Winterfest
February 8th to 17th. A visit from the Olympic mascots, a Parade, Art Workshops, Polar Bear Swim, art workshops, petting zoo, live outdoor family concert, Street Hockey and more! More info

Whistler Celebration 2010
Experience Whistler’s cultural core in celebration of the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. A dynamic month of theatre, music, snow sculpting, film screenings and literary soirees plus the Great Whistler Parade on February 17. More info

Whistler Celebration 2010 Children's Workshops (lots for adults too!)
Painted Pennant Flags - Mon, Feb 4 & Mon, Feb 11 from 12:15pm - 1pm at Spring Creek Elementary School. A group of up to 30 will paint a pennant flag with the birds of spring. Each of the young artists will hold the flag and perform in The Great Whistler Parade. 
Hand Shakers - Tues, Feb 5 & Wed, Feb 6 from 12:15 - 1pm at Myrtle Philip Elementary School. A group of 25-30 kids each day will create and decorate handshakers to be used in the rhythm sections of the parade. More info

Book reviews on film!
Got a favorite book you'd like to tell Whistler about? BookBuffet and Whistler Public Library are partnering to film locals who prepare a two-minute review of their favorite book. Kids, youth and adults are all welcome. Edited version will be shown at the new library - and online with "the world". Call Paula 907-2804 for more details or sign up at the library. More info
